My Goodreads Challenge

To encourage me to read more, I set my Goodreads challenge in January last year; and I’m delighted to say I surpassed it by 2 books! It was a modest challenge of 40 books, a long way behind some of you insanely fast readers out there, I know, but for me, it needed to be achievable.

Goodreads emailed me a very cool infographic of my year in books, so I thought I would share some fun facts.

  • I read 14480 pages across 42 books

  • The shorted book I read was A Snow Garden by Rachel Joyce, just 224 pages

  • The most popular book I read was On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft by Stephen King; also read by 229675 other people

  • My average rating for 2019 was 4.4 stars, meaning I read some pretty great books!

  • My first review of the year was a 5 Star review for The Perfect Family by Shalini Boland

  • Some of my other 5 Star reads included the first 3 of the D.I. Lottie Parker crime series by Patricia Gibney. I’m looking forward to following Lottie Parker’s story in the next books in the series, already on my 2020 reading list.

  • My last review of the year was a 5 Star review for Dark Deception by Amanda James. Mandy’s books keep getting better!

For 2020, my Goodreads challenge is 45 books

With 2 read, and a third of the way through my current read, The Afternoon Tea Club by Jane Gilley, I think I’m doing okay so far.

I have a ‘to read’ list that keeps on growing but would love to hear your suggestions for a good read. I’ll check out most genres, but my preference is for family/relationships, romance that’s not too mushy, and crime.

Happy New Year and Happy Reading!
